Most companies have some kind of email communication for customers & subscribers, be, it regular newsletters bursting with news or promotional eshots with a special offer – but are they getting opened and read?
The reason people/ businesses subscribe to newsletters and email news is so that they can receive opt-in, interesting news, special features, industry insights or special offers or even tips on how to do something – but sadly, many companies aren’t fully utilising eshots for success and instead driving the same old news and information out to their database.
The purpose of a email newsletters is for it to be opened; if they are not opened, no one is reading them and even worse, no one is hearing about your fantastic business!
As a PR and Email Marketing agency, it’s our job to turn drib news into something engaging, fun and interesting that people want to READ – so here are our tips from the inside….
The most important part is the subject line, this is the first impression.
Imagine you have 6 new emails with these subject lines: Our newsletter, Special offer, Read this, 3 Tips for better sales, 7% discount just for you, Save money – Which would you open?
You need to arouse curiosity with a benefit, and a benefit could be a hint, tip, discount and more, but you also need to arouse curiosity. The one that would have a better open rate would be 3 Tips for better sales as there is the benefit, and the curiosity of what these 3 tips are. Numbers arouse curiosity and everyone wants something that could benefit them for free don’t they?
Once opened you need people to read
Write your newsletters and eshots as if you were speaking directly to that person on a 121 level.
Try to entertain as well as inform and make sure you get interaction by doing polls, a link to your commercial social media accounts.
These are just two quick tips that if you implement them, you will get a better open rate and better satisfaction from your data.
